Business Conference: “Greening Strategies Toward MSME Competitiveness”

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA , JANUARY 29, 2016 – BOF, Inc’s very own, Ms. Teresa David-Carlos, Chairman & President in her capacity as Chairman of Pampanga Small And Medium Enterprises Development Council (PSMEDC) opened the green business conference conducted by Pampanga Small and Medium Enterprise Development (SMED) Council and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Pampanga, in cooperation and the GIZ “Promotion of Green Economic Development” GIZ (ProGED)” held at Ichiban Express, San Isidro, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

According to the organizers, the conference is about “Greening Strategies, Toward MSME Competitiveness,” aimed to enable MSMEs as well as government institutions relevant to economic development to increasingly implement environment friendly, climate smart and inclusive strategies and measures.

The Chairman, in her speech said that “this year, we aspire to arm the MSMEs with development drivers in order to adapt to the challenges of climate change and incorporate green growth or low carbon economic strategies in the conduct of business operations. Our well respected guests from World Wide Fund and GIZ ProGed are dedicated and serious advocates of green economy. They will illuminate us on the urgency of its transition to lessen the negative impacts of global climate and overuse of natural resources; and GIZ ProGed will discuss how to enable MSMEs as well as government institutions relevant to economic development to increasingly implement environment friendly, climate smart and inclusive strategies and measures.”

She concluded that the ASEAN integration has led us to give focus on strengthening our global competitiveness but this 2016, we hope we can also seriously consider incorporating and implementing green strategies that can lead to smart growth. Real transition to a Green Economy may still be a long way but if we start now and hand in hand do our just share in increasing leading progress toward green economic development, MSMEs can consequently achieve sustainability and long-term economic growth perspective.
