Pampanga Pasalubong Center: Salilungan Now Opens

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA, January 18, 2016 –


At last, Pampanga has its own pasalubong center right at the heart of City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The Provincial and Local Government refurbished the old San Fernando Transport Terminal and converted it into a one-stop shop called “Salilungan.”


“Salilungan” was coined from the two (2) words: “Sali”, a capampangan dialect which means “buy” and “silungan” meaning “shelter.”


The event was graced by the presence of different mayors and government officials from Pampanga as well as entrepreneurs from the province. BOF, Inc. Chairman and President, Ms. Teresa “Terry” David-Carlos, also the incumbent Chairman of Pampanga Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Council (PSMEDC) together with BOF Independent Director: Mr. Levy P. Laus, also the Chairman Emeritus of Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAMCHAM) with BOF Director: Engr. Jesus “Jess” S. Nicdao, also the incumbent President of PAMCHAM were there to show support.

According to Second District Board Member Anthony Joseph Torres who chairs the Provincial Board’s trade and industry committee, the project brings together 14 crafts and furniture enterprises, along with 14 food and service providers in one building. Thee project targets to develop the area that has been given for commercial use in a 10-year lease program for the promotion of Capampangan made products, food and delicacies. The province spent some P8.5 million for the refurbishing of the said establishment.


"This is a form of promoting our local products along the Jose Abad Santos Avenue which is a major gateway to Manila and other Central Luzon provinces," Torres said.

Governor Pineda on her speech mentioned that the opening of the establishment is the answer to persistent calls from the tourism and commercial sectors providing a venue to showcase Capampangan made products.
