MAIMPIS, CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA, PHILIPPINES, NOVEMBER 12, 2015 - In celebration of the Year of the Poor and SACOP’s Silver Jubilee, the Archdiocese of San Fernando (ASFP), in collaboration with the Social Action Center of Pampanga, Inc. (SACOP) and the University of the Assumption (UA), holds ‘KANAWAN’, A Conference on Integral Development and Social Responsibility” at the SACOP-EPHATHA Development Center, Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
ASFP has invited His Eminence Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Archbishop of Manila to speak on the Faces of Poverty, Facing Poverty, Focusing on Poverty from the optics of the Catholic Church. Most Rev. Florentino G. Lavarias, DD, Chairman, SACOP Board of Trustees, and Archbishop, Archdiocese of San Fernando, Pampanga, closes the event with a message on "The Challenges to Integral Development and Social Responsibility."
Other Keynote speakers are Mr. Antonio P. Meloto, Founder and Ambassador, Gawad Kalinga to discuss the Faces of Poverty, Facing Poverty, Focusing on Poverty from the eyes of a Social Entrepreneur and Hon. Maria Leonor G. Robredo, Representative, 3rd Congressional District of Camarines Sur, to talk about the Faces of Poverty, Facing Poverty, Focusing on Poverty from the Perspective of the Government.
Ms. Teresa David-Carlos, Pampanga Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PamCham) Treasurer and BOF, Inc. Chairman & President has been requested to give a formal reaction on the speech of Mr. Antonio P. Meloto.
The Organizers aim to provide a venue in disseminating relevant information through short documentaries about poverty statistics and faces of poverty in the national and local setting; identify the social perspectives of integral development and socio-economic gaps of programs that fell short in addressing the economic conditions of the marginalized and indigents; benchmark various best practices in facing challenges and issues brought about by poor socioeconomic conditions; rekindle greater commitment and ownership in search of a common vision and strategy for integral development and social responsibility; and establish more opportunities among decision-makers to re-engineer and/or create more responsive programs on poverty reduction and alleviation.
